LEMKO.org grew over decades.
The site was not created all at once. Pages, photographs, research, maps, music technologies and community collections accumulated across changing generations of the Internet. The resulting directory structure is itself part of that history.
The remaster adds a modern layer.
New pages provide clearer navigation, mobile-friendly entrances, timelines, subject guides and featured stories. They help visitors reach the historical material without requiring them to understand old filenames or folder structures.
Original sources remain original.
Historical HTML pages, photographs, documents, terminology and filenames are generally left where they were. The remaster prefers linking and contextualizing over silently rewriting source material.
Not everything belongs back on LEMKO.org.
As publishing changed, much newer music, video and community activity moved naturally to YouTube, Facebook and other platforms. LEMKO.org does not need to absorb those later decades again. Instead, it can explain the earlier archive and link outward when that better serves the visitor.
Preservation before cleanup.
Old support files, generated photo-album pages and obsolete media are not deleted merely because they look unnecessary today. Their relationships are checked first. Cleanup should follow understanding, not precede it.
