In the adjoining village of Pakoshivka, which belonged to the Yalyn parish, the Most Reverend Josaphat Kocylowskyj was born on March 3, 1876. He was ordained a priest on October 6, 1907, and appointed as a bishop on November 28, 1916. He was the last bishop of the Eparchy of Peremyshl. In 1946 he was arrested by the Polish government and carried out of his office, still sitting on his chair, when he refused to vacate his premises. He was driven to Medyka, still In his chair, and there handed over to the Soviet NKVD. The Most Reverend Josaphat Kocylovskyj died November 17, 1947 in Siberia. The tserkva in Yalyn is used as a kostel by the Polish Roman Catholics.
