LOP'YANKA
Lop'yanka was once a picturesque village with 300 inhabitants. Here my paternal grandfather was a parish priest, here also my father was brought into this world. Today everything is abandoned and destroyed. It is difficult to say that the hills were once inhabited. Only the skeletal remains of this tserkva and occasional fruit trees, growing wild, indicate previous human presence. The adjoining villages of Buk and Tysovets were similarly erased without trace. This was done by the Poles during the brutal expulsion of the Ukrainian population. It grieved my father to look at this devastation and not be able to find a trace of the parish residence, where he was born.
