| Obrij Folk Dance Ensemble was created in 1997 by, Roman Lewkowicz. The word "obrij" means horizon in Ukrainian. The goal of this ensemble is to look beyond our horizons back to our roots and preserve our heritage through dance. Although Obrij's emphasis is on the dances of the Carpathian Mountains, its repertoire includes numerous regions of Ukraine. This folk ensemble is composed of some of the most talented dancers in the tri-state area. Each member of the ensemble is active in the Ukrainian-dance community of the larger New York metropolitan area. The members of Obrij have attended countless dance camps and workshops, as well as, studied and danced multiple styles throughout the United States and some even in Europe. | |||
